About Us

A Sisterhood of Support and Respite for Women Experiencing Hardship

High Hopes in High Heels is a local 501(c)(3) non-profit organization whose mission is to strengthen our community by supporting, celebrating and elevating the women of Tampa Bay. We do this by dedicating our time, talent and resources to supporting local women-owned and operated businesses and providing sisterhood and a hand-up to foster a stronger community.

Our

History

High Hopes in High Heels was founded in March 2009, by Rachel Luis and Jessica Grimsley and was created as a place to bring women together and improve their lives through the service of our community. It was important that the organization not require a specific time commitment since both women understood the daily obligations that many women juggle with their careers and home. They also wanted to create volunteer opportunities with no age limit or specific requirements so our volunteers would remain diverse and help and learn from one another. We’re proud to say that we’ve stayed true to those objectives.

In 2011 High Hopes in High Heels became a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, and since being founded, each year we works to better the community through a variety of activities. These projects include: hands-on volunteer efforts, donation drives, awareness events, assembling gift bundles, hosting events/fundraisers for the charities we support. We also regularly support organizations near and dear to our hearts, such as The Affirmations Project and Fighter Foundation. You may have also heard about the annual dance we host for the families at the Children’s Cancer Center; this is a favorite event of ours as it provides the families a worry-free night of pure fun!

Diversity and Inclusion

High Hopes in High Heels is dedicated to a mission of diversity and inclusion. We believe that building a culture that is welcoming and inclusive is integral to our member’s and our community’s growth.

What that looks like:

  1. Membership - Recruiting members with diverse perspectives

  2. Connection - Creating experiences to connect and build relationships with organizations different from our own

  3. Support - Commitment to serving underrepresented populations in our community
