Michelle Boyd DeJong

(1986-2016)

In only 29 years, Michelle Boyd DeJong grew into a successful entrepreneur, philanthropist and beloved Board Member of High Hopes in High Heels. Michelle’s life ended after a courageous 23-month battle against an inoperable brain tumor. She will forever be remembered for the hundreds of thousands of dollars raised for cancer research and the fearless way she approached her treatments and clinical trials. For her work ethic, charitable work and ultimate contribution to the fight for a cure when she donated her tumor tissue for research.

Michelle lived by example through her fighter mentality, zest for life, unconditional love for her family and friends, and most of all, her selfless spirit and ability to make a positive impact on everyone with whom she came into contact.

For those who knew her, she will forever be admired for her positive attitude, infectious smile and unwavering conviction to “BElieve THEre is GOOD in the world.” As part of her legacy, Michelle founded the annual Children’s Cancer Center Dance hosted by High Hopes in High Heels and the Fighter Foundation, which will forever be woven into the history of our organization. #BeTheGood and share the love today and always.

Janette (Mammo Mamma) Roque Lopez (1981-2023)

Janette was a devoted wife, daughter, sister, cousin, niece, and friend who touched so many lives. She joined High Hopes in High Heels in 2013 and spent countless hours volunteering her time and talents to lift up women in the Tampa Bay Community.

Janette's essence was pure kindness—sharp, funny, and radiating warmth. Her ability to connect with others, making them feel special, was a gift beyond measure. Through highs and lows, she maintained a contagious positive outlook, offering caring words even in the face of adversity.

To her sisters in High Hopes, Janette was not just a volunteer; she was a warm hug, confidante, and partner in crime. Her legacy is etched in the hearts of those fortunate enough to know her, and she will be remembered as one of the best people we've had the honor to call a friend.
